Are you ready to further your Country Swing dance career?
Being a judge is an entirely different skill set than being a dancer. This course will prepare you to become a country swing judge! It covers from A to Z on what to expect on your journey and readies you for everything you may encounter. You will learn what to do and look for on the competition floor, as well as off of it.
About the course:
What can I expect when I take the course?
Interactive
This is an engaging and collaborative course. You will not be sitting silent and listening for the entirety of a lecture. Instead, you will be asked to share your perspectives and experiences on subjects in the course material. You will be challenged to critically think given multiple different scenarios.
Close Knit
Each cohort will consist of five students.
These small cohorts will ensure everyone can be heard and be able to listen to one other's point of view. Come in with an open mind and be willing to change your perspective on how you might judge and see dance.
Virtual Classes
Class will be held once a week based on the participating student's availability. There will be five classes total: four classes of going over the material and one class of virtual mock judging previous Steal A Dance competitions.
Judging Experience
Once the material of the course is fully covered, the participants will then mock judge and/or judge pointed competitions to gain judging experience. The experience is measured per round of competitions. After the competition, you meet with a judge of that competition and do a review of your scores and why you gave them.
Universally Accredited
Both the CSDC and NCDC systems recognize the Bandits' Country Swing Judging Course as a legitimate training course to train future judges.
How much does the course cost?
$350
If you have judged a pointed Advanced Jack and Jill competition before the release of this course AND you have Advanced Country Swing Jack and Jill points in either system, you take it for a discounted rate of $150.
Bandits' Judges
List
These listed judges have completed the Bandits' Country Swing Judge's Training course.
To become a Certified Bandits Judge, you must judge at least 100 rounds of pointed competitions.
The amount of credited rounds will be in parenthesis to the right of the persons name.
Example: John Doe (##)
To have the rounds that you've judged be creditable, you must also review your marks with other judges of that competition afterwards.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I take this course to judge line dance as well?
Not at the moment. This course is specifically for country swing.
After I take the course, can I expect to be immediately hired by events as a judge?
The answer to that very important question is no. Please be aware that this course will not have you immediately hired by an event. However, this course is a great tool to educate you on how to judge and is a strong item to add to your dance resume to have you become a professional judge.
What happens if I miss a class?
Bandit's staff will coordinate with the cohort to make sure that classes are only held when everyone is available. However, if someone still doesn't show up to the scheduled class without communicating that to Bandit's beforehand, the cohort will continue the class without the missing student. That student will then have to wait for a future cohort to get to the point that they left off at. Be sure to let the Bandit's Judging Instructor know your availability.
